THE WELL (A SHORT FILM)

"The Well" is a eulogy to my father who passed away suddenly on May 9th, 2020. The work was born from being in a dark place, a reflection of society at large when humanity was experiencing the depths of suffering and also feeling the necessary discomfort that comes with lasting change. Solitary and deeply personal, "The Well" speaks to the complex layers of grief yet there is a constant light that continues within oneself; it never dims or fades even in the darkest night. With text by Annie Kahane and cinematography by Jordan Hoffman, this project's goal was to maintain creativity during uncertain times because it had to be made, resulting in a newfound rawness. Although the story and text is directed towards my father, it also represents a truth about how the human body can sense the state of the world - even in an empty room, where you find yourself alone.
